Helping Members

(A) The Executive Board of AFICS-T assists members, their spouses and eligible children in contacting Cigna regarding questions and reimbursement status about their medical claims and benefits. E-mails were sent on behalf of these members to Cigna, and responses were received in a timely manner.
(B) The Executive Board assists pensioners and their spouses in drafting e-mail messages to UNJSPF, UNFCU, regarding their periodic benefits, disabled child benefit, two-track pension adjustment system, change of mailing address, transfer of funds, etc. The Executive Board also contacts directly with the mentioned offices regarding those and other related matters. We are pleased to inform that UNJSPF and UNFCU have handled these matters expeditiously upon receipt of the Executive Board’s requests.
(C) The Executive Board assists spouses/sons/daughters of the deceased members in processing the necessary documents for UNJSPF, New York, as well as for group life insurance reimbursement. In this regard, it is of paramount importance that the retiree number, which serves as the ID of a retiree and is not confidential in nature, should better be made known to one’s spouse and family members as well as AFICS-T, as experienced has proved that it greatly facilitates dealings with UNJSPF. Also, it should be noted that the procedures of the UN Group Life Insurance require that matters and documentation regarding Group Life Insurance are supposed to be handled by the Human Resources staff of the respective UN agency where the former staff member was last employed. It should be noted that AFICS-T will assist spouses/children of deceased members in translating death certificates from Thai to English.
(D) The Executive Board undertakes the collection of signed Certificate of Entitlement (CE) forms and the submission of those forms to UNJSPF via special courier. All signed CE forms dispatched through the AFICS-T Board have been receiving on time by UNJSPF. In the case that UNJSPF did not receive CE from beneficiaries, AFICS-T would be requested by them to contact those concerned who are living in Thailand. The Executive Board has successfully contacted most of the beneficiaries whose CEs did not reach the UNJSPF, and appropriate action has also been taken to ensure that their periodic benefits would not be suspended.
