1. Who are eligible?

(i) Participants will be eligible for ASLI if they have participated in the plan for at least 10 years at the time of separation from service on normal or early retirement. They will continue to receive life insurance coverage without further payment of premiums.
(ii) ASLI will also cover participants whose appointments were terminated for reasons of health. They will continue to receive life insurance coverage equal to their coverage on the date of separation up to age 61, and reduced amounts thereafter, without further payment of premiums.
(iii) Participants who separate from service prior to the age of 55 will receive one year's free life insurance coverage for each completed 10-year period of contributory participation , at the level of their coverage on the date of separation. At the end of this period of coverage, the life insurance coverage ceases.
